Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team for evening shifts from 2 PM to 10 PM. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse populations, including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring specialized medical attention. Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavioral health protocols to promote comfort and safety.
- Assist with clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and basic life support (BLS) when required.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control practices and safe lifting practices during patient handling.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient service across medical-surgical units, intensive care units (ICU), emergency medicine departments, or long-term care facilities.
Skills
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients or in long-term care facilities with knowledge of dementia and memory care practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and record management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology relevant to patient care settings.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics; experience with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts is preferred.
- Excellent caregiver communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including children—and their families.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols including aseptic technique and infectious disease care procedures.
- Experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospice care, post-acute settings, outpatient clinics, or hospital medicine units like PICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
- Certification in CPR/BLS required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous.
