Job duties for
Pipe Layer:
-
Installing and repairing underground pipelines, sewer lines, and water mains
-
Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to determine the layout of pipes and the required materials
-
Operate heavy machinery, such as excavators and backhoes, to dig trenches and lay pipes
-
Connect pipes using various methods, depending on the material of the pipe
-
Test pipes for leaks and ensure that they are properly aligned and graded
-
Backfill trenches and compact soil to ensure that the pipes are properly supported
-
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools
-
Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area
-
Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for
Pipe Layer:
-
Associate's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
-
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
-
Experience in laying pipes, operating heavy machinery, and working in a construction environment
-
Previous experience as a Pipe Layer or similar role
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
-
Knowledge of different types of pipes and their installation methods
-
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and may be required to work in confined spaces
-
Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
-
Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery
-
Ability to stand for duration of shift
-
Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
-
Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
