The Box Truck Driver is responsible for delivering windows, doors, lumber, and building materials to customers. This role involves physical labor, including hand loading, manually securing, and unloading construction materials. Drivers ensure deliveries are made safely, accurately, and on time while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with DOT and company standards.
Drivers are based at our Long Beach yard and make daily regional deliveries. This role requires navigating diverse weather and jobsite conditions, including single-family, multi-family, and new construction sites.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure all required maintenance tasks are reported promptly.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety standards, including proper lifting techniques and load securing practices.
- Comply with DOT regulations, including maintaining a valid DOT physical card and clean MVR.
- Navigate a variety of weather and jobsite conditions safely and efficiently.
Team Contribution
- Support team members and other departments as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
- Communicate load issues, route challenges, or delays to management promptly.
Position Qualifications:
Required Skills and Competencies
- Valid DOT health card, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and FMCSA Clearinghouse.
- Ability to drive in diverse weather conditions and navigate jobsite challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve delivery-related issues.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills to represent the company professionally.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of delivery driving experience.
- CDL preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor, including hand loading, unloading, and manually securing heavy loads.
- Must lift, push, pull, bend, squat, walk, and stand frequently.
- Adaptability to outdoor conditions, including hot, cold, wet, humid, and windy weather.
