- Prepare classroom equipment and instructional materials for lessons.
- Perform recordkeeping duties associated with the classroom including attendance and grade calculation.
- Instruct students in proper classroom procedures and behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents on a regular basis regarding student progress.
- Adapt instructional materials as necessary to meet special education guidelines.
Qualifications of Assistant Teachers/Aides:
1. Be at least (18) years of age
2. Participate in the orientation and training required by the state.
3. Must be able to perform adequately the job duties of providing for the care and supervision of the children enrolled in the Center.
4. Never have been shown by credible evidence, e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation or other reliable evidence to have abused, neglected or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct. The Department may request an oral or written statement to this effect at the time of application or at any other time. Upon said request, the teacher/lead caregiver or Staff shall provide this statement to the Department.
5. Comply with the Criminal Record and Comprehensive Background Checks.'

- Works with the lead teacher in all activities, including but not limited to: teaching curriculum, diapering, toilet/potty training, food prepping for children, and record keeping in Procare
- Helps lead teachers with daily small-group activities for assigned groups of children, sharing responsibility for large-group activities, and using appropriate adult/child interaction strategies with all children.
- Assume responsibility for a classroom at any given time.
- Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members if needed
- Supervise daily lunch and playground activities
- Cleans tables and floors during naptime/after each mealtime
- Promotes individualized attention for children while the lead teacher is conducting small groups.
- Walks around to each child during free-play centers, monitoring and encouraging appropriate play with toys and materials.
- Promote positive reinforcement and redirection
- Cleans centers/toys every afternoon with soap, water, and bleach water
- Check every child's belongings to see what they need more: snacks, diapers, wipes, etc. Message parents accordingly
- Reports to parents regarding the child's day using the Positive Sandwich method
- Complete Daily Naptime and Closing Checklist- to be signed off daily by administration
