Description:
The Mechanical Engineering (MENG) Program at the University of Houston–Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a visiting faculty position at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level. The starting date is Fall 2026 with the rank determined based upon overall qualifications. The successful candidates are expected to contribute to the sustained growth of the MENG program, teach undergraduate MENG laboratories and courses, and provide service to the program, university and profession; including active support of the MENG program ABET accreditation efforts.

Duties:
The position is primarily in the area of Thermal/Fluid Sciences with expertise in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Thermal/Fluids laboratory instruction. Additional courses in support of the Mechanical Engineering Program, such as: Statics, Dynamics, Introduction to Engineering, and Computing for Engineers using Matlab, may also be assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with a terminal degree in a closely related discipline with similar primary expertise and at least one degree in Mechanical Engineering will be considered
- Successful candidates must be strongly committed to undergraduate teaching and laboratory skills development
- Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or in Engineering Education with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Preference will be given to candidates with an earned B.S. from an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering program and a demonstrated record of undergraduate teaching excellence
- Professional registration, or practical experience with industry or government will also be favorably reviewed
