Definition
Under general supervision, performs instructional assistance duties in Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) department by preparing gyms, fitness centers, fields, pools, and other areas for classes; reinforces the instructions and activities taught by the instructor; actively monitors students participating in fitness activities; assesses student progress to achieve desired learning outcomes; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision
Works under the direct supervision of the department manager.
Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to student workers. fffff

24 Hours/Week
Monday - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Tuesday - 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Wednesday - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed in this classification.
Performs instructional assistance duties in the DSPS department.
Prepares gym, fitness center, fields, pools, and other areas for classes; ensures the areas are clean and free from obstacles; sets up and distributes fitness equipment and supplies.
Reinforces the instructions and activities taught by the instructor; ensures students are performing exercises safely and using the proper form; demonstrates exercises and spots students.
Actively monitors students participating in fitness activities, including moving around with them during activities in the gym, sports fields, and aquatic center pools; enforces District rules and regulations; notifies the instructor and/or seeks assistance if medical concerns or emergencies arise; assists faculty with class supervision during field trips or other related activities.
Assesses student progress in meeting self-directed goals for each course.
Creates and maintains exercise cards for all students to track daily performance.
Maintains confidential student records and complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations and protecting the privacy of student records.
Maintains inventory and ensures proper storage of all class supplies; submits requisitions to order supplies and equipment and schedules repair of equipment as necessary.
May provide work direction to student workers.
Performs other related work as assigned.
