CNC Programmer (Part-Time) – $35/Hour
Rock Krawler Suspension – Latham, NY 12110
Part-Time | Monday–Friday | Flexible Hours Available Between 8am and 4:45pm
Are you a CNC programmer who enjoys building efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes instead of programming one-off prototype parts?
Rock Krawler Suspension is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our production machining operations. This role is focused on programming and optimizing multiple HAAS CNC lathes and a 3-axis mill that produce the same components day after day, month after month, and year after year.
We are not a prototype shop. We are a production manufacturer. Success in this role means creating programs that consistently produce high-quality parts while reducing cycle times, improving tool life, minimizing operator intervention, and increasing overall shop efficiency.
The work you do will establish machining processes that may remain in production for years. You'll have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on how our parts are manufactured while helping shape the next generation of suspension, steering, and coilover products used on vehicles around the world.
What You'll Be Programming
At Rock Krawler Suspension, you'll be developing and refining the machining processes behind some of the most respected off-road suspension products in the industry.
The components you'll work on span a wide range of complexity, including:
- Simple drill, tap, and profiling operations for steel suspension components
- Precision-machined control arm components
- Billet 7075 aluminum suspension products
- Adjustable suspension hardware and mounting systems
- Shock and coilover components requiring tight tolerances and complex machining strategies
- New product development projects that transition into long-term production
One day you may be creating a straightforward production program for a steel control arm. The next, you could be optimizing multi-operation machining processes for a billet 7075 aluminum control arm or refining toolpaths for intricate shock and coilover components.
The common thread is that every program is developed with production in mind—repeatability, quality, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
What You'll Do
- Program and optimize multiple HAAS CNC lathes and a 3-axis CNC mill
- Create new programs using HAAS Conversational Programming, HAAS VPS, and G-code
- Analyze and improve existing programs to reduce cycle times and increase throughput
- Improve tooling strategies to maximize tool life and reduce manufacturing costs
- Develop repeatable machining processes that ensure consistent part quality
- Establish setups and documentation that operators can execute efficiently
- Troubleshoot machining issues and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Work closely with production personnel to improve quality, efficiency, and machine utilization
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience programming HAAS CNC equipment
- Proficiency with:
- HAAS Conversational Programming
- HAAS VPS (Visual Programming System)
- G-Code programming and editing
- Experience programming CNC lathes and milling machines
- Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, and production machining practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate enjoys asking questions such as:
- How can we reduce cycle time?
- Can this tool last longer?
- Is there a better machining strategy?
- How can we make this process easier for operators?
- How can we produce the same part more accurately and efficiently every time?
If you take pride in continuous improvement and enjoy refining manufacturing processes, you'll fit right in.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shop environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required
- Comfortable working around manufacturing equipment
Compensation & Benefits
- $35.00 per hour
- Flexible part-time schedule
- Small team environment where your contributions have a direct and visible impact
