AIM is actively recruiting CA & AZ individuals with graduate-level training or professional expertise in mental health and related fields.

We are particularly seeking candidates with backgrounds in:
● Social Work and Community-Based Practice
● Mental Health and Behavioral Health Professions (e.g., counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, psychiatry)
● Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) and Community-Based Research
● Public Health and Community Health
● Education and Youth Development
We strongly encourage applications from:
● Master’s and doctoral students in clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling psychology, public health, or related programs
● Post-graduate professionals
● Researchers with experience in participatory research and/or youth mental health
Mentors must be:
- Passionate about youth mental health and empowering young people as leaders in research, advocacy, and change-making.
- Comfortable facilitating group discussions in which youth voices are respected and drive the activities in the learning environment.
- Committed to fostering inclusive, student-centered experiences.
Program Details and Commitment
AIM Ideas Lab is offered twice each year through a fall and spring cohort. Each cohort meets once per week for 10 weeks, with sessions held in the evenings or on weekends. Mentors and youth co-mentors are assigned as a team to facilitate a cohort of 10–20 high school students. You will be assigned a virtual or in-person cohort, and assignments are made in consultation with your availability.
Time commitment is approximately 43-55 hours and includes:
- Pre-Program Training and Requirements (8-20 hours)
- Program sessions: 2 hours per session for 10 sessions (20 hours total; 90-minute virtual sessions
- Post-program wrap-up activities, including verifying student attendance and service hours after the conclusion of the 10-session program (0.5-1 hour total)
Compensation: Contracted mentors receive a stipend upon successful program completion.
New mentors: $1,600 /contract with 2 contracts per year
