Today, we're one of the nation's premier full-service metal recycling firms, processing millions of pounds of ferrous and non-ferrous metal every year across multiple strategic locations. We're a first-generation, family-owned business, and we promote from within — many of our leaders started in entry-level roles. Now we're looking for an experienced Scrap Metal Buyer/Trader to build new supplier and industrial relationships, strengthen existing accounts, and purchase material for our Tampa operation and beyond.
What You'll Do
- Build and execute a purchasing plan for ferrous and non-ferrous metals across your territory
- Own the full buying cycle — prospecting, quoting, negotiating, closing, and managing ongoing accounts
- Track commodity markets (COMEX, LME, scrap indices) and adjust pricing strategy as markets move
- Get in front of customers — calls, site visits, and email — to understand their material streams and uncover new opportunities
- Create, submit, and negotiate bids and contracts
- Coordinate with operations and logistics to make sure what you buy moves smoothly
What You Bring
- 2–3+ years of scrap metal buying, selling, trading, or operations experience
- Working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous commodities and how market movements affect values
- A track record of building a book of business — or the drive to build one fast
- Strong negotiation skills and sharp commercial instincts
- Self-directed and competitive, with the responsiveness and follow-through customers remember
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Bachelor's degree preferred — but experience and results matter more
