Our English Language Learner Teacher:
We are looking for a dedicated ELL Teacher who will take a creative and entrepreneurial approach to teaching and bring the learning environment to life for our English Language Learning scholars. Our community of teachers strives to create a space that encourages student ownership in the learning process and that encourages students to think their way through answers while exploring their insights and curiosities about the lesson material.
We foster a culture of excitement about learning for our students by partnering together to create vibrant learning environments focused on project- and inquiry-based learning. We have a co-teaching model that allows our classroom teachers to partner together to ensure our scholars are engaged with rich and rigorous lesson material. Ours is a collaborative environment that is designed to help our scholars engage in their studies as well as in their natural curiosities and to embrace a culture that is based on restorative practices; allowing our scholars to feel connected, empowered, and respected.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong pedagogy by bringing passion and depth of knowledge to working with Limited English Proficient (LEP)/English Language Learners (ELL). Be ready and able to instill students with the same.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure instruction is differentiated to ensure learning for all levels of English acquisition.
- Create and implement unit and lesson plans based on student needs and BSNBCS’ mission.
- Work closely with peers and administration to develop a multifaceted curriculum that integrates multiple subjects and approaches to meet the individual needs of students.
- Take an entrepreneurial approach to your curriculum, teaching methods, and optional duties.
- Maintain an awareness of the school's strategic initiatives and incorporate them into your work.
- Regularly and accurately report student progress and maintain accurate and up to date records related to student achievement and performance.
- Take an active role in your professional development by identifying and creating opportunities to expand your skills to meet the demands of individual student needs.
- Communicate frequently with students, students’ families, colleagues and other school personnel.
- Take an active role in school community outreach.
- Strong understanding and ability to implement BSNBCS mission and vision.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.

Requirements
What you need to bring to the table:
- You MUST have a valid and current New York State Teacher Certification in ESOL K-12, or other certification in ELL/ESL.
- You MUST possess at least a bachelor’s degree; preferably in Education or a related field.
- You MUST clear a fingerprint background check to work in any school in NY, so we require all teachers to be cleared through
- prior to starting employment with us. This cannot be waived and must be complete PRIOR to starting employment with us.
- You must have a measurable and proven track record of teaching success in a NY District or Charter School
- You must have at least two years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in an urban school.
