Project Accountant, Senior (Development / Construction)
Location: Long Beach, CA (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours
Pay: Up to $55+/hour depending on experience
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established organization in the
real estate development / affordable housing space to identify a
Development Accountant for a 6-month contract engagement.
This individual will play a key role in supporting a
high-volume portfolio of projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting and assisting with
audit preparation and project clean-up efforts.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong
development or project accounting experience who can step in, contribute immediately, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities-
Provide hands-on support across the development accounting team

Prepare and maintain loan schedules and supporting documentation

Perform job cost and general ledger reconciliations

Reconcile trial balances to project activity and construction draws

Assist with month-end close and journal entries

Review and ensure proper expense classification and reporting

Support audit readiness and project clean-up efforts

Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain accurate, up-to-date project financials
Systems & Tools-
Yardi (Voyager preferred) - required

Support transition of processes from Excel into Yardi

Utilize Excel for reconciliations, data tracking, and schedules
Qualifications-
3+ years of development accounting, project accounting, or related experience

Strong experience with:

Reconciliations
-
Trial balances
-
Financial schedules
-
Exposure to real estate, construction, or development accounting

Hands-on Yardi experience is required

Advanced Excel skills
-
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Background-
Experience in affordable housing or nonprofit environments

Familiarity with construction draws and project-based accounting workflows
Work Environment-
Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite (Wednesday & Thursday) in Long Beach
