Job Summary
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall operational performance, growth, and administrative leadership of the organization’s Northern and Southern California ophthalmology and refractive surgery practices. This executive leader oversees multi-site operations, patient experience, operational efficiency, compliance, team development, and strategic execution across all locations. Therefore, traveling between our Northern California Offices and occasionally traveling to our Southern California Offices is a requirement.
The VP of Operations partners closely with executive leadership, department leaders, and regional managers to ensure exceptional patient care, operational consistency, scalable growth, and organizational excellence. This role is responsible for aligning operational initiatives with the company’s strategic vision while fostering a high-performing and patient-centered culture.
The VP of Operations reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership & Practice Management
- Provide executive oversight of all Northern and Southern California practice operations.
- Ensure efficient, consistent, and high-performing day-to-day operations across all clinic and surgical locations.
- Develop, implement, and optimize operational policies, procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Monitor patient flow, staffing models, scheduling systems, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure facilities, equipment, and operational systems meet clinical, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Lead operational integration and standardization efforts across all locations.
2. Leadership & Human Resources Management
- Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and retention strategies.
- Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and ensure accountability throughout the organization.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and performance-driven culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
- Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
3. Patient Experience & Service Excellence
- Champion a world-class patient experience across all touchpoints.
- Develop and implement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, and service quality.
- Oversee patient relations processes, including escalation management and service recovery.
- Monitor patient feedback, operational metrics, and quality indicators to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure alignment between operational excellence and patient care standards.
4. Strategic Planning & Organizational Growth
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and execute organizational strategic initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for operational expansion, service line development, and market optimization.
- Partner with leadership teams to support operational scalability and long-term organizational growth.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions, integration efforts, and new location development as applicable.
- Drive operational infrastructure improvements to support future expansion and organizational efficiency.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable accreditation standards.
- Partner with HR, legal, and clinical leadership to minimize organizational risk and ensure operational compliance.
- Develop and maintain operational safeguards, quality assurance measures, and risk management protocols.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership regarding operational and compliance-related matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive operational leadership experience in ophthalmology or refractive surgery, and multi-site practice management.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, compliance, and patient experience management.
- Proven experience leading multi-location teams and managing large operational infrastructures.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements, organizational growth, and team performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with healthcare management systems, operational reporting, and performance analytics.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
