American Traveler is hiring an experienced PCU RN for a float pool position requiring both KS and MO or compact RN licensure and 1-2 years of recent telemetry experience.

Med-Surg Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown float pool position covering approximately 5 units

Patient ratio of 1:5

Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
-
Requires working 8 weekend shifts (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday) within a 6-week schedule period

Float pool role with no assigned home unit; will float across Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed

Holiday shift and Charge RN assignments as needed

No on-call requirements

Cares for patients with sepsis, wound care needs, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, AFIB, GI bleeds, stroke, and COVID
-
Performs cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and pre/post cardiac catheterization care

Utilizes Virtual Nursing support, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems
-
Active KS or Compact RN license required; Missouri or Compact license also required due to multi-facility floating

Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
-
1 to 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days

Experience in MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
-
Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias and on-unit telemetry monitoring

Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care required

Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care/management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care

Charge RN experience preferred

Must provide SSN, finalized RTO requests, and 2 professional references (one supervisor-level or above, one charge RN level) from the past year at time of consideration

Must be willing and able to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed; unwillingness to float will result in cancellation

Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
-
Maximum RTO of 7 days; all time-off requests must be finalized at time of consideration with no changes permitted afterward

Former BJC or Saint Luke's permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler; previous travelers must complete an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service before reapplying

EPIC EMR training required, with a choice between test-out or training module

Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
