Position Summary:
The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, promoting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. This role involves planning and implementing a curriculum that aligns with early childhood education standards and fosters a love of learning. The Lead Preschool Teacher also serves as a role model and mentor to other staff, ensuring a collaborative, inclusive, and positive classroom culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support developmental milestones and prepare children for kindergarten.
- Use creative teaching techniques to make learning fun, engaging, and effective.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate individual learning needs and styles.
2. Classroom Management:
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Establish clear routines, rules, and behavior management strategies to encourage positive behavior.
- Observe, assess, and document each child’s progress and areas for development.
3. Parent Communication:
- Foster open, positive communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress, milestones, and any concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to parent inquiries.
- Share resources and strategies for supporting learning at home.
4. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Mentor and guide assistant teachers or support staff in the classroom.
- Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan school events, activities, and professional development opportunities.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirements and school policies.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the classroom and playground areas.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education and participate in required training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Lead Qualification
- Experience as a preschool teacher, with leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early learning standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and actively engage with young children.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Occasional evening Staff Meetings
