I need somebody to run our shop so my technicians stop doing it.
Right now my guys are making supply house runs every single day and hunting around the shop for parts that should already be on the truck. Every hour they spend doing that is an hour they're not in front of a customer. That's the job I'm hiring for.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Stock the trucks before they roll in the morning off a set list
- Make the supply house runs so the techs don't have to
- Receive material, put it away, keep everything where it belongs
- Stage material for the next day's jobs
- Process warranty parts and returns to the supply houses
- Collect and haul scrap metal
- Keep tools accounted for and in working order
- Keep the shop clean and organized
Your task list comes off our Asana board every morning, built from what the techs turned in the day before. You'll know what needs doing before you walk in.
WHO THIS IS PERFECT FOR
Honestly, a retired or semi-retired tradesman. If you spent 30 years in plumbing, HVAC, electrical or construction and you don't want a full week anymore but you're not built for sitting around, this is a good fit. You'll know what a fitting is on sight and that's worth a lot to me.
It also works for somebody who wants steady part-time morning hours with no nights and no weekends.
WHAT I NEED
- Valid driver's license and a clean enough record to drive our vehicles
- You can lift and move material
- You're organized and it bothers you when things are in the wrong place
- Basic phone and app skills. We'll show you Asana, it's not complicated.
- You show up on time
Knowing plumbing, HVAC or electrical parts is a big plus but I'll teach you what you need.
WHAT THIS JOB IS NOT
This isn't a stepping stone into the field and I'm not going to pretend it is. If you want to become a technician, apply for our Trades Helper position instead. This is a standalone job for somebody who wants to do it and do it well.
WHAT YOU GET
- $19 to $23 an hour
- 20 to 25 hours a week, mornings, Monday through Friday
- No nights, no weekends, no on call
- Flexible on which hours as long as trucks are stocked before the guys roll
- You work directly with me
