American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2+ years of recent PCU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a teaching hospital
-
22-bed unit (16 rooms) with an average daily census of 20 patients
-
Adult and geriatric patient population
-
Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
-
Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
-
12-hour rotating shifts, Day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
-
Every other/third weekend required
-
Floating within the health system required
-
Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
-
Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
2+ years of recent PCU experience required
-
Experience with similar patient population preferred
-
Previous charge RN experience preferred
-
Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
-
Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
-
Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
-
Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
-
Experience with surgical drains, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
-
2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role and no coworker references accepted

Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse surgical and medical patient population in a progressive care setting

Perform specialized wound care procedures including burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
-
Utilize rapid response/code team protocols as needed
-
Locals are accepted at the same rate
-
Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
-
Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
-
RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
-
Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract, either in person or via mailed packet depending on distance from Ohio
-
First-time travelers are not specifically required to have travel experience for this role
