Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Shop Mechanic to join our team and help maintain our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, light- and medium-duty vehicles, and seasonal equipment.
This position requires early morning availability, with occasional flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed.
The ideal candidate will have experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment. However, we also encourage applicants with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on repair experience, or a background in related mechanical fields to apply—even if they do not meet every listed qualification. This role involves working both independently and alongside other technicians to diagnose issues, prioritize repairs, and keep our equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair air brake, hydraulic, and suspension systems
- Diagnose and test electrical systems
- Perform clutch adjustments and repairs
- Maintain and repair diesel emissions systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers
- Repair and maintain gasoline-powered service vehicles
- Diagnose and repair small engines, including lawn and snow equipment
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Communicate repair needs and updates with team members and management
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of diesel mechanic experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver's license (CDL-A is a plus)
- Must provide your own tools
