Job Summary
NHSS is seeking dedicated CSACs and CSAC‑Supervisees to support adults in recovery through effective substance use treatment interventions and person‑centered care. We serve the Roanoke Valley with trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented programming across outpatient, IOP (2.1) and PHP (2.5) levels of care.
You’ll provide services from intake and treatment planning to group counseling and client education to help participants build stability and long‑term recovery, while practicing within your defined scope of practice and supervision. This role is ideal for counselors who value teamwork and meaningful client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Intake screening, assessment, treatment planning and relapse prevention planning
- Facilitate group counseling and education for adults in recovery
- Provide supportive interventions and crisis response within scope
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold ethical standards
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure integrated care
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and professional program environment
Qualifications
- Active CSAC certification or CSAC‑Supervisee registration (VA Board of Counseling)
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred
- Experience in substance use or behavioral health
- Strong communication, group facilitation, and documentation skills
- Commitment to ethical practice, boundaries, and teamwork
