The Town of Rochester is seeking applicants for a part-time Code Enforcement and Building Department Clerk. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for the department, answering calls, processing permits, scheduling inspections, performing clerical functions for the department.
Duties include:
- Answering incoming calls and responding appropriately by offering answers to questions or directing calls to the appropriate form or staff member as needed
- Processing permits and assisting with scheduling inspections
- Corresponding with applicants throughout their permit process
- Collect and process applications, including fees
- Manage databases, digitize physical documents, and maintain accurate records of issued permits
- Coordinate with other staff and code officials
- Maintain files
- Perform additional office tasks as requested and required
- Works under the direct supervision of the a higher level employee
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and office equipment
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Experience with municipal code enforcement, building departments, and/or construction
- Basic proficiency in computer and file management systems
- Familiarity with building and zoning codes, applications, plans and applications preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $23.75-$25 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week during office hours: Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
- Part-time employees are eligible for Paid Time Off (PTO) benefits
