Description
The Clinical Supervisor for the CT Department provides quality care to patients undergoing CT procedures. Demonstrates full knowledge of CT procedures and equipment. Responsible for effective, diplomatic, and empathetic communications to patients, their families, and referring physician offices. This position requires professional and technical skills and supervisory responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the patient experience by greeting patients, explaining pre and post-procedure instructions, completing exam forms, and verifying patient’s identity. Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters.
- Safely transfers patients to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs.
- Positions the patient ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
- Selects proper imaging devices, provides proper shielding for patients and assisting personnel, and sets the machine to obtain optimal images.
- Responsible for conducting performance evaluations, coordinating staff schedules, and evaluating patient flow to maintain maximum productivity and efficiency, enterprise-wide.
- Accurately critiques images and adjusts factors if an image needs to be repeated.
- Properly tracks procedures according to imaging standards.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions they may have.
- Follow aseptic technique and infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
- Start IV’s
- Preparing and administering contrast dyes.
- Addressing patients’ concerns and ensuring that they are comfortable and calm during scans.
- Carrying out quality assurance procedures and implementing improvements as required.
- Perform CT exams using proper protocols and positioning techniques, transporting patients safely, verifying the accuracy of orders, and documenting patient information.
- Meets the daily goals of the work group by prioritizing workflow.
- Uses a variety of imaging equipment and understands the capabilities and limitations of each piece of equipment.
- Uses the image archiving system and maintains expertise in data and image transfer.
- Notifies the appropriate personnel when equipment malfunctions or requires maintenance.
- Check the status of the imaging equipment to ensure the device is in proper operating condition.
- May perform testing to ensure proper calibration and optimal performance of equipment.
- Conduct environmental and safety procedures including cleaning and sterilizing the exam room and equipment.
- Evaluate and maintain supply levels and practice safe patient maneuvers.
- Document the patient’s exam through data entry, report retrieval, scanning and recording the exam details in the electronic medical record system
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and licensure through educational workshops, professional publications and societies.
- Conduct management duties including arranging staff schedules, performing coaching sessions and performance evaluations, maintaining office productivity, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Supervise technologists by monitoring patient and staff schedules.
- Communicate with COO, Radiologists and Facility Administrator.
- Build and implement radiology protocols.
- Practice safe patient maneuvers.
- Maintains licensure, certifications and ongoing CEUs for professional development on a timely basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s Degree or Certified Radiologic Technologist; Board Certified in CT
Experience: Leadership experience preferred in addition to 1 to 3 years experience as a radiologic technologist with at least 1-year training in CT
Knowledge: Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence, and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. Have sound knowledge of human anatomy and MRI safety procedures. Outstanding technologists will be highly analytical and able to explain complex information clearly.
Skills: Basic computer skills including Email and the ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record Systems and PACS Systems. Use of Ultrasound equipment, disinfection unit, and general office equipment.
Licensure/Certification: Board Certified in CT; member in good standing with ARRT..
Physical requirements: Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Must be able to stand, stoop, lift and walk without restrictions. Requires the physical ability to stand and walk throughout the day and help lift and move patients.
Conditions of employment: This role works onsite. BLS Certification, Compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Adherence to the Mission, Vision, and Values of DRI and professional representation of DRI.
