We are seeking a talented Forensic Services Coordinator – LGU to join our team of nearly 500 employees. The Forensic Services Coordinator - LGU is a part of the BCMHD team and assists them in promoting its mission: to promote and protect mental health, substance use recovery, and intellectual/developmental abilities of the individuals, families and communities of Broome County.
Work is performed under direction of Broome County leadership with flexibility to exercise independent judgment in planning and carrying out the responsibilities. The position requires ability to manage the uncertainty of a transitioning behavioral health industry while identifying and communicating tangible priorities.
The Forensic Services Coordinator-LGU supports the Local Government Unit (LGU) / Broome County Mental Health Department (BCMHD) in the successful coordination, oversight, development, and implementation of the service delivery system that impacts justice-involved individuals. This position requires the ability to develop strong partnerships with State and Local entities as well as participating agencies, law enforcement, corrections, and community members to lead initiatives to enhance the Forensic Behavioral Health System of Care.
CCSI is partnering with Broome County Mental Health Department (BCMHD) to hire a Forensic Services Coordinator – LGU. This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf of Broome County Mental Health Department (BCMHD).

What you bring
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Rehabilitation Counselor or related Human Services required including five (5) years of relevant work experience with adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), families with children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), individuals with Co-occurring Disorders, or individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), OR
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with minimum ten (10) years of relevant work experience with adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), families with children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), individuals with Co-occurring Disorders, or individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), OR
Equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart).
Preferred: Current, Valid Licensure by New York State Education Department as:
Qualified Mental Health Staff Person in accordance with 14 NYCRR 595; OR
Non-Physician Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioner (NP-LBHP) in accordance with 14 NYCRR 598 or 599; OR
Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) in accordance with 14 NYCRR 512.4
Required for this position are:
- Competency in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (current edition) diagnoses as pertinent to Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), and Substance Use Disorders (SUD), Co-occurring Disorder, and Intellectual and Developmental Disability (I/DD) eligibility criteria.
