Position available
We are looking for an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team.
We are looking for part-time, but will consider full-time for the right candidate.
You’ll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. One of the most important Veterinary Assistant responsibilities is to ensure all areas are clean, for animals and humans alike. We’ll rely on you to assist the Veterinarian in examinations and operations. As a new clinic, you will be asked to handle a wide range of tasks often divided up in larger practices.
- Fully paperless practice
- Digital and low-dose radiography
- Digital dental radiography
- In house labs
Responsibilities
- Assist the Veterinarian in a variety of duties: including examinations, administration of treatments, client care and education
- Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms
- Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
- Soothe upset or frightened animals
- Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
- Help in cases of emergencies
- Monitor animal vitals during anesthetic procedures.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and speaking with patient owners
- Keep accurate records and logs pertaining to patient medical records
- Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues (e.g. lack of appointments, insurance matters)
- Maintain cleanliness of the hospital and patients under care
- Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare
Skills
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant or similar position working with animals
- Experience with monitoring anesthesia preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient and caring personality
- Ability to follow instructions properly and attention to detail
- Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
- High school diploma or above
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
