Overview
I consider myself alternatively abled, because I can do most things in a different way
despite my physical disability. For instance, I write reality-based novels typing with my
eyes. I “talk” with the same eye computer. Also, I draw pictures for my EYEmade
greeting cards all using my eyes. With technology, I enjoy exercising my cognitive
independence just like able-bodied people do.
But technology can’t replace my mellow but present support staff who physically assist
me with daily activities. My staffs’ job duties include assisting with personal care, eating
prepared meals, housework, cat care, going places in my insured accessible minivan
and object manipulation. I often hire people without any prior experience, as I provide
paid hands-on training, written instructions, and other learning tools.
Available shifts:
Morning 8am – 12pm $25/hourly; You will assist me with getting me up, eating a simple breakfast,
and early lunch, caring for my adorable cats, and setting me up for the day. This shift
occurs seven days a week. Therefore, two or three people will work some mornings and
NOT all of them.
Afternoon 12pm – 5pm $23/Hourly: This shift involves helping me with eating prepared meals, going to
the bathroom, cat care, and going places. I need someone to work three or four days a
week. This afternoon shift can be combined with the morning shift to make it a nine hour
day if you would like.
Evening 6pm – 11pm $23/Hourly:I wind down from a busy day of writing or running errands, so I
need help with getting into a comfy chair, being set up with a leisure activity, having
meds and supplements, and going to bed. This shift occurs seven days a week, so two
or three people will switch off working the evening.
