Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Per Diem Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team on an as-needed basis. The phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from adult patients while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, professionalism, and patient comfort.
This position involves adult blood draws only and does not include pediatric or geriatric patients. The ideal candidate is confident performing venipuncture, attentive to detail, compassionate with patients, and experienced in properly labeling, handling, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection through venipuncture using proper aseptic techniques.
- Collect specimens from adult patients only; no pediatric or geriatric blood draws are required.
- Accurately label, document, prepare, and process specimens.
- Verify patient information before each collection.
- Provide patients with clear instructions and compassionate care throughout the collection process.
- Record relevant patient and specimen information accurately.
- Follow all infection-control protocols, and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and preparation for transport.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program is required.
- Current phlebotomy certification is required.
- Previous professional phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform venipuncture efficiently while minimizing patient discomfort.
- Strong knowledge of blood-collection procedures, specimen labeling, and handling requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and patient-service skills.
- Ability to work independently on a flexible, per diem schedule.
- Dependable, professional, and punctual.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
