In this role, you will help serve our community by performing maintenance, repairs, and replacements on all city equipment. As our mechanic, you will be a part of the central equipment division in our Public Works Department; you will get to work with a team of dedicated mechanics and work inside our outstanding mechanics bay. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Determines types and scope of repairs as needed. Performs preventative maintenance and service on diverse fleet of equipment. Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipment. Overhauls and rebuilds diesel and gas engines and small engines from mowers to weed-eaters. Repairs, adjusts and replaces air conditioning, heating systems, fuel systems, and transmission systems. Designs and implements minor modifications to existing equipment. Knowledge of: Practices and techniques of fabricating and welding.Mechanical and operational functions of all City vehicles and equipment.Materials, methods, products and techniques used to successfully maintain and service City vehicles and equipment.Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationship with those contacted in the course of work.Successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam.

WORKING CONDITIONSEnvironmental Conditions: Mostly City garage environment; hazards associated with operating motorized equipment or vehicles, noise and may have exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Physical Conditions: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing or walking for prolonged periods of time; kneeling, climbing, bending and stooping; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; must be able to operate assigned vehicles.
