The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a full-time, inpatient obstetric APC. This individual will function broadly within the specialty of Obstetrics & Gynecology, caring primarily for antepartum and postpartum patients in an inpatient environment.
- Will coordinate inpatient care, consultations/referrals, referring provider follow-up, and discharges.
- Works with attendings, residents, nurses, medical students, health care assistants and unlicensed support staff.
- Works closely with the inpatient healthcare team regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates labs and diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
- Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
- Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
- Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
- Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
- Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care.
- Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
