Job Summary: The Facility and Grounds Lead is responsible for the care, maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of the church facility, grounds, equipment, and related systems. This role supports a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for staff, volunteers, ministries, guests, and the congregation.
Essential Tasks, Responsibilities & Duties:
· Coordinate with vendors, contractors, staff, and volunteers in areas including mechanical, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, metal work, roofing, turf and landscape care, pond management, and snow removal.
· Manage campus-related projects by setting objectives, establishing timelines, coordinating resources, and working with contractors, volunteers, and staff to complete projects effectively.
· Oversee the care, maintenance, and repair of campus facilities and equipment in a preventative, timely, and cost-effective manner.
· Supervise custodial staff and manage the ordering and inventory of facility supplies.
· Complete daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual checklists to ensure consistent upkeep across all areas of the facility.
· Work with the Director of Operations to develop and implement policies and procedures related to the use, care, and maintenance of church properties and facilities.
· Maintain an accurate inventory of church property, equipment, and related assets.
· Provide direction and guidance to church support staff regarding facility and grounds needs.
· Serve as the primary contact for large special event setup and tear down, and coordinate with staff and volunteers for regular ministry events.
· Lead and work alongside volunteer teams associated with building and grounds, including the Fix-It Team and Turf Team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Previous facility management, maintenance, groundskeeping, or related experience preferred.
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate facility needs and respond appropriately.
· Awareness of church events and ministry schedules to support smooth facility operations.
· Ability to communicate clearly with staff regarding projects, updates, facility improvements, and issues that may affect their work areas.
· Flexibility to check on the facility when weather, emergencies, or other situations may impact Sunday services or the safety of the congregation.
· Ability to work well with a team under pressure, time constraints, and unexpected challenges.
Part-Time Status: 30 hours per week
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily within the church facility and on church grounds, including standing, walking, and occasional office work. This position requires the ability to lift, carry, or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour
