1. Position Summary
The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, and performance of the wastewater treatment plant supporting the automobile manufacturing facility, with emphasis on effluent generated from the Paint Shop.
This role ensures regulatory compliance, environmental protection, and optimal treatment efficiency. The Manager leads plant personnel, manages chemical suppliers and service contracts, and drives continuous improvement in treatment processes, reporting, and facility safety.
2. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & Process Management
- Manage daily operation and maintenance of all wastewater treatment processes, including DAF, RO, MBR, chemical feed systems, sludge handling equipment, pumps, blowers, clarifiers, and control systems.
- Develop and execute short‑term and long‑term wastewater treatment strategies.
- Oversee water quality controls for closed Cooling Towers and Hot Water Boiler Circuits, including chemical dosing systems, analyzers, blowdown valves, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor effluent quality and optimize treatment performance using SCADA and plant control software.
- Ensure continuous compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and develop wastewater treatment personnel.
- Delegate tasks, provide training, and ensure adherence to operational standards and safety protocols.
Maintenance & Facility Support
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities within budget and timeline constraints.
- Support on‑site construction inspections, punch lists, equipment installation, and commissioning activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Develop and implement safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Ensure the plant meets all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Formulate and manage the operational budget; identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Manage vendor, contractor, and consultant relationships.
- Oversee service contracts and chemical suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance reporting.
- Prepare regulatory reports and ensure documentation is organized and audit‑ready.
Emergency Response & Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to operational issues and emergencies to minimize downtime.
- Provide rapid troubleshooting and corrective action.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with industry advancements, technologies, and best practices.
- Integrate innovative solutions to improve plant efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
Note: This position may require on‑call availability for emergencies or plant issues outside regular working hours.
3. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- State‑approved wastewater treatment operator certification (high‑level class preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in wastewater treatment operations or water quality control systems.
- 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, chemical control, and environmental regulations.
- Experience with SCADA systems and wastewater plant management software.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
