Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Material Handler to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspection of material upon delivery to our shop, implementing and maintaining a material traceability program, and inventory and tracking of materials leaving the shop. Your integration into our shipping & receiving department will ensure implementation of quality hold points, elimination of production delays, improvement of material shipment accuracy and tracking, and complete traceability and verification on all materials. Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments by inspecting condition, verifying quantities, and recording material data accurately.
- Perform material verification and traceability whenever applicable.
- Verify readiness of outgoing shipments by confirming inspection hold points have been completed and generating accurate and comprehensive bills of lading.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks, as needed, to assist in the loading and unloading of materials safely and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain precise inventory records, ensuring stock levels are accurate and current.
- Coordinate with logistics and shop supervisors to prioritize material readiness for shipments and track deliveries.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies to uphold inventory accuracy.
- Support shop operations such as stocking and shipment preparation.
Skills
- Previous experience with warehouse/fabrication shop management systems and inventory management
- Knowledge of shipping logistics, material traceability/verification, and inspection hold points
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation purposes
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for inventory counts and measurements
- Familiarity with operating forklift trucks, pallet jacks, and other related equipment safely
- Excellent data entry skills coupled with attention to detail for maintaining precise records
- Customer service orientation with effective communication skills to collaborate across departments
- Understanding of shipping & receiving operations including stocking procedures, shipment tracking, and receiving inspection practices
