Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
- Monitor vital signs and observe patient conditions to report changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Administer medications and assist with medication management following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption, accommodating special dietary needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Support residents with cognitive challenges by implementing memory care techniques and engaging in personalized activities
- Maintain cleanliness of resident living areas through light cleaning duties to promote hygiene and comfort
- Document patient observations, update care plans, and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress and rights
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic first aid including CPR certification
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders support is advantageous
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and patient transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams while respecting residents’ rights under HIPAA regulations
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays enhances your ability to provide personalized support
- Valid certifications in first aid and CPR are required; ongoing training in patient safety is encouraged
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed in a dynamic caregiving environment
