Appalachian Counseling & Psychological Services (ACAPS) is a multidisciplinary practice providing therapy, neuropsychological assessments, speech-language pathology, medication management, and academic tutoring and educational consulting for children, adolescents, and adults.
Our Educational Services Department provides individualized educational support that helps young scholars build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and reach their full potential.
We are seeking to hire a full-time Private Instructor to join our growing Educational Services Department. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about assisting scholars through individualized instruction, relationship-building, and strengths-based educational practices. The teacher will work with scholars who have a wide range of learning profiles and academic needs, providing targeted instruction in reading, mathematics, and other core skill areas.
Successful candidates will value collaboration, differentiated instruction, and fostering an inclusive environment where every scholar can thrive. Experience supporting students with learning differences and disabilities is strongly preferred.
Requirements:
· Valid North Carolina teaching licensure in one of the following areas:
o Elementary Education (K-6)
o Secondary Education (7-12)
o Exceptional Children (EC) General Curriculum (K-12)
o Exceptional Children (EC) Adaptive Curriculum (K-12)
· Strong instructional skills with experience in creating supportive, student-centered learning environments
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Eligibility to work within a North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) approved education setting
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with non-homogeneous groups of students with a wide range of educational needs including ADHD, OHI, ASD, ID, SLD, and/or emotional and behavioral disorders
· History of collaborating within inclusive or specialized educational settings
· Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, especially those who is proficient in Spanish
Responsibilities:
· Develop individualized learning plans based on scholar interviews and screenings
· Provide explicit, targeted supplemental and remedial instruction based on the individual learning plans
· Maintain consistent communication with parents and caregivers to ensure generalization of skills across domains
· Assist families in navigating the complexity of their scholar’s unique learning style in the context of primary educational settings
· Document and record session notes and progress with attention to interventions utilized and scholar responses to intervention.
· Collaborate with other ACAPS stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and support.
· Adapt instructional approaches and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of scholars while maintaining standards of evidenced-based practice
Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
