SUMMARY
The Dermatology Specialist Clinical Assistant functions as a member of the patient care team, contributing to the health management of the patients; performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for Clinic patients, many in assistance to section providers and under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Manager; maintains primary responsibility for all technical procedures. Contributes to patient and department compliance with Federal and all other health plans with patient management objectives. May require regular travel to satellite clinics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a four-year degree in health sciences; certification from an accredited medical assistant program; or two years of clinical assisting or scribing experience with emphasis in Dermatology. Current CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
Successful completion of Certified Dermatology Technician provisional certification through The Association of Certified Dermatology Techs (ACDT) is expected within the probationary period. Completion of full certification is required within a year of hire.[JH1]
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients, equipment, and supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; articulate speech; ability to read and understand orders; visual acuity. Must have the ability to hear dictated instructions. Must use a keyboard to type and sit at a computer for extended period.
HOURS: Full time hours range from 30-40 hours per week. Schedules may range between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm or completion of patient care.
