Job Overview
The Advanced Engineer is a senior-level technical role responsible for delivering high-impact infrastructure, cloud, automation, security, and data solutions across a diverse client base. In this position, you will serve as a key technical resource, providing advanced design, implementation, troubleshooting, and support for complex environments—including containerized platforms, modern cloud architectures, enterprise monitoring systems, and large-scale data ecosystems. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and field engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions, often bridging the gap between hands-on support and advanced DevOps/SRE-style engineering. This is a in house role in the corporate office with possible travel to client sites as needed. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in containerization, automation, cloud services, modern monitoring practices, and advanced systems troubleshooting, while driving innovation and leading projects that elevate our clients’ technological capabilities.
Duties
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, virtualization platforms, disaster recovery strategies, and cloud technologies.
- Provide technical services at the network level, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and performance optimization.
- Manage remote access solutions and system security, identity services, and directory services.
- Deliver documentation, system reviews, and technical assessments for client environments.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced network, infrastructure, and performance issues.
- Serve as escalation point for Field Engineers; provide mentorship and technical leadership.
- Lead design, deployment, and maintenance of containerized environments using Kubernetes and Docker, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
- Develop, modify, and maintain automation, tooling, and orchestration workflows using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting/programming languages.
- Implement, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-level monitoring solutions and logging/alerting systems; build dashboards, set alert thresholds, and drive incident response and post-mortem analysis.
- Work with data lake, big data, or large-scale data ingestion and processing environments; assist in data pipelines, data storage, ETL/ELT, and integration with analytics platforms as needed.
- Design, implement, and consume APIs (RESTful or otherwise) whether for internal integrations, third-party services, or custom automation — with robust error handling, authentication, and documentation.
- Provide advanced support for cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure, AWS, or other public/private cloud platforms), virtualization, hybrid infrastructure, and network configurations.
- Act as escalation point for complex issues beyond standard field engineer scope; perform root cause analysis, design remediations, and coordinate with clients and third-party vendors.
- Document system architecture, runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles to support ongoing operations and team collaboration.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and internal teams to understand requirements, propose solutions, and deliver impactful results — while maintaining customer-friendly communication and professionalism.
- When needed, travel to client sites or project locations to deliver on-site support, implementation, or training (schedule depending).
- Prior experience working for an MSP or similar service-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools such as Rewst, Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
- Prior exposure to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, or cloud-native deployments.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers or field personnel on complex topics (containers, scripting, monitoring, etc.).
- Certifications related to Kubernetes (e.g., CKA / CKAD), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or security compliance frameworks.
