Duties
- Develop, implement, and evaluate training curricula focused on phlebotomy techniques, laboratory procedures, and patient care protocols
- Conduct hands-on training sessions on venipuncture, capillary specimen collection, blood sampling, and vital signs measurement
- Supervise and mentor new and existing staff in specimen collection, processing, and laboratory information systems (LIS) management
- Ensure all trainees understand compliance requirements related to aseptic technique, safety standards, and medical terminology
- Monitor trainee progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement
- Collaborate with laboratory management to schedule training sessions that align with operational needs and staff availability
- Maintain detailed records of training activities, certifications earned, and competency evaluations to ensure regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory techniques including venipuncture, capillary specimen collection, and blood sampling within a clinical or hospital setting
- Strong background in laboratory procedures, medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and anatomy fundamentals
- Demonstrated leadership skills with supervising or team management experience in a healthcare environment
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care, comfort during specimen collection, and effective communication
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and adherence to compliance management standards
- Knowledge of pediatric phlebotomy techniques and handling special populations such as pediatrics or patients requiring specific care protocols
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while maintaining high-quality training standards
- Strong analysis skills for assessing trainee performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Commitment to maintaining aseptic technique and safety protocols during all training activities
