We are in search of Dietary Cooks to join our Team! Full-time positions available and include paid time off, health benefits and retirement plan. The Dietary Cooks serve food and prepare fluids while complying with nutritional standards, government regulations and internal procedures.
Some of the Key Responsibilities will include:
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure they are correct.
- Perform administrative requirements such as accurately completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and timely submitting to the Food Service Supervisor.
- Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary.
- Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
- Assure menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Confirm that food and supplies for next meal are readily available.
- Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
- Make only authorized substitutions.
- Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.
- Provides timely and accurate work instructions to Prep Cooks and Dietary Aides.
- Participates on designated committees and meetings.
- Submits required documentation timely.
- Follows HACCP Standards and procedures to include Food Safety Standards.
- Assist in training new Dietary Cooks.
- Attends and completes required training.
- Replaces staff for call ins.
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate cookware, bakeware and cooking appliances safely.
- Follows dress code including proper footwear.
- Read and interpret recipes and dietary instructions.
- Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Posses the ability to deal tactfully with coworkers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and general public.
- Knowledge in dietary procedure, as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to a skilled nursing home operation.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, appearance of work area, regular inspection of food service areas for sanitation expectations.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
