The incumbent performs a variety of law enforcement and security duties, relative to the protection of property, crime prevention and detection, public safety, traffic control, enforcement of the Airport Security Program, Airport Rules and Regulations.
- Knowledge of emergency medical and first aid practices.
- Knowledge of patrol resource allocation theories, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of FM FAR 1542; Melbourne International Airport Security Program; Melbourne International Airport Rules and Regulations; Melbourne City Code; and Federal, State, and local government laws.
- Skill in using firearms/weapons and other police equipment.
- Ability to analyze situations and make logical decisions under stressful situations.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and to understand written and oral directions.
- Ability to interpret program objectives and policies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is heavy and requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
