This position serves as a Deputy Division Director within the Division of Regulation and Licensure, a component of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Jefferson City, Missouri. This position reports directly to the Division Director.
Responsibilities include oversight of the Division's regulatory duties on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as state licensure of applicable health care facilities. The position serves as a subject matter expert, leading a team of regulatory managers and also provides guidance as needed to the regulated industry and stakeholders in all aspects of their regulatory responsibilities.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Work closely with the Division Director in the overall planning, development, and administration of programs and services offered through the Division’s Units, including: The Section for Long-Term Care Regulation; The Bureau of Hospital Standards; The Bureau of Ambulatory Care; The Bureau of Home Care and Rehabilitative Standards; EMS and Time Critical Diagnosis;
- Direct personnel, including Unit Adminstrators in general management aspects of policy development, program planning, and the evaluation of policy and/or organizational changes and new programs;
- Review and/or revise programs to ensure compliance of operations with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;
- Assist in the selection, direction, and evaluation of Division staff;
- Participate in the development, interpretation, and implementation of new or revised programs, or legislative initiatives and fiscal notes.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field (RN or BSN preferred but not required) with five (5) years of healthcare management/supervisory experience, and a working knowledge/experience in a healthcare regulatory field;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must possess effective leadership skills that promote customer service; non-adversarial enforcement of regulations; and the professional development of staff within the Division of Regulation and Licensure;
- Demonstrate and utilize critical thinking skills and innovation by showing a great deal of initiative when interacting collaboratively with leadership, staff, industry, and stakeholder groups.
