Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health services within a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and a variety of therapeutic modalities to support diverse patient populations. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual, and family counseling to promote mental well-being and recovery. The counselor will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care and adhere to all HIPAA and medical documentation standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding standards.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, including behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, trauma informed therapy.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy for various conditions such as PTSD, addiction, grief, chronic pain, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and gender issues counseling.
- Implement crisis management techniques and crisis intervention strategies to ensure patient safety.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively when documenting patient care in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient assessments, progress notes, and treatment outcomes.
- Engage in case management activities to coordinate care with other healthcare providers and support services.
- Stay current with developments in mental health counseling practices and ICD coding updates to enhance service quality.
Requirements
- Valid FLORIDA licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/LMFT/LCSW or equivalent) with state certification. RMHCI's will be considered.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, integrative therapy, DBT, EMDR, or comparable.
- Competency in crisis intervention, crisis management, and working with diverse populations.
- Experience with telehealth platforms and delivering remote counseling services required.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnosis documentation.
- Familiarity with medical records management and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively using social work principles and clinical research methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills for intake procedures and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working in outpatient or inpatient settings is desirable; experience with special education or working with people with disabilities is a plus.
