About the role: Data Engineers are a critical part of the IDEXX Global Sales and Service Analytics organization, responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers analytical products, AI agents, and data visualizations used by stakeholders from Sales Professionals to Executive Leadership across global locations. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and AI, contributing directly to the pipelines, governance frameworks, and platforms that drive business decisions and product development.
Join a highly collaborative and dynamic team that is building at the frontier of what modern data engineering looks like. You'll work with a modern tool stack, contribute to AI-enabled products and pipelines, and operate in an environment where your work has direct visibility across the organization. You will learn and teach a lot, tackle technically exciting work, and make an already strong team even better. This position will require 2 days onsite per week in our Westbrook, ME headquarters.
What can you expect? You'll join a team that builds and maintains robust, scalable data pipelines that power Tableau dashboards, AI agents, and a variety of downstream reporting platforms. Our data engineering team serves as the governance hub for our analytical team, owning data architecture, conducting technical code reviews, and providing guidance to a team of analytical developers. You'll work within a tightly constructed data model designed to ensure that the data sources we build are scalable, thoughtful, and leveraged consistently across our full suite of products. AI is at the center of how we operate, from our pipelines and visualizations to new product releases, and you'll be actively contributing to the development of AI-enabled products, pipelines, and governance platforms.
What do you need to succeed? Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential, as these are the core languages used to build and maintain our data pipelines and infrastructure. Beyond that, you'll need hands-on experience or strong foundational knowledge in the tools and technologies that define how we work. Our pipelines are built using dbt, orchestrated with Dagster, and version-controlled in GitHub with CI/CD managed through GitHub Actions. We work extensively in AWS as our core cloud infrastructure and engage with Databricks to apply LLMs within our data pipelines. You'll also work with Snowflake Cortex and GitHub Copilot to build and deploy agents, and leverage Claude as our enterprise AI platform. Beyond the technical stack, success in this role requires strong collaboration instincts, a commitment to data governance and code quality, and a willingness to operate in an environment where AI is not just a tool, it's a core part of how we build.
What are our desired skills and experiences? You might not check every box, but if you bring the right technical foundation and mindset, we want to talk to you. We're looking for someone with strong analytical instincts, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine enthusiasm for AI and modern data tooling. The ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders, a bias toward automation and scalability, and a commitment to clean, well-governed data are the qualities that tend to define success on our team.
