A warm, internationally-minded family in San Francisco is seeking a dedicated Governess / Early Years Educator to lead the daily care and education of their 2-year-old daughter on a full-time, live-in basis. The family is looking for a warm, thoughtful professional who brings both real substance in early childhood development and a natural love of nurturing curious young minds.
The ideal candidate will design and lead a rich daily routine — one that balances play, exploration, language, early literacy and numeracy, and the everyday moments where character, kindness, and good manners are successfully modelled and formed.
Responsibilities:
Design and lead a thoughtful daily programme of early learning and play — reading, storytelling, language-rich conversation, music, art, sensory play, and outdoor exploration.
Support the child's early literacy, numeracy, and language development in age-appropriate, playful ways.
Model and guide good manners, kindness, and considerate communication through everyday moments.
Track developmental milestones and share observations with the parents.
Plan enriching outings — parks, museums, playgrounds, and cultural activities suited to the child's age.
Guide the child through her daily rhythms, encourage independence, self-care, and good habits.
Requirements:
Solid experience in early childhood care or education — as a nanny, early years teacher, Montessori practitioner, or governess.
Strong intellectual curiosity and a willingness to nurture the same in a child.
Excellent spoken English, articulate and thoughtful; additional languages a plus.
Reliable, punctual, and discreet; comfortable in a private household setting.
Comfortable with a live-in arrangement.
Comfortable with occasional domestic and international travel with the family, (desirable)
Valid US work authorisation.
CPR / Pediatric First Aid certification preferred.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, exact schedule to be decided (Occasional Weekend desirable)
Salary Offered: Approximately US $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
