Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic surgery, with technically excellent suturing skills and hands-on experience assisting during orthopedic surgical procedures. This role involves supporting the surgical team before, during, and after orthopedic surgeries to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a smooth operative processes. The Physician Assistant will be an integral part of our orthopedic team, providing high-quality patient care and assisting with various surgical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical setup, including preparing the operating room and necessary equipment
- Prepare, position, and drape patients appropriately for orthopedic procedures
- Position and maneuver extremities during surgery to facilitate optimal access and safety
- Assisting and supporting the surgeon throughout the operation
- Perform suturing and close incisions with precision, demonstrating excellent suturing skills
- Apply final dressings to surgical sites, ensuring proper wound care and patient comfort
- Support preoperative assessments and postoperative care as needed
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical workflows
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Physician Assistant with current NJ licensure and CME
- Proven experience as an orthopedic surgical physician assistant
- Excellent suturing skills are particularly important; candidates must be very comfortable with suturing techniques
- Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures, anatomy, and surgical protocols
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly during surgical procedures
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional development
This is a part-time position, offering an engaging opportunity for qualified professionals committed to delivering excellent orthopedic care. We are looking for someone who is available every Friday. The surgical center is located in Montvale, NJ. The compensation is $100 per hour.
