Description
The Lead Teacher will manage the classroom, create age-appropriate curriculum, conduct assessments and interact with families to provide a safe, supportive and challenging educational environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement the curriculum and classroom activities.
- Work together with Assistant Teacher(s) or other staff in assigned classroom.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of children and program information.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the center's care, both in the classroom and throughout the facility and its grounds via sight and sound with constant supervision.
- Assist in planning and implementing family engagement activities, welcoming parents and visitors, and answering questions as needed.
- Cover classrooms as needed, including teaching and supervising children in various age groups.
- Maintain open and effective communication with fellow staff and families.
- Attend monthly staff meetings (1st Wednesday of every month 6pm-7pm) and bi-annual staff in-services (President's Day & Indigenous People's Day 8am-4pm) as scheduled.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Kids Corner LLC. Administration.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
- Minimum: CDA, Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, or Degree in related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Degree in related field (preferred).
- At least two years (2500 hours) of experience in childcare.
- Strong knowledge of child development, early education curriculum, and child assessment.
- The desire to continually learn new skills and techniques and to remain current in the field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively as a team member and to establish positive relationships with families.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification is preferred.
- Must be able to provide the following clearances and information prior to starting if hired: PA State Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA FBI Fingerprinting Clearance, NSOR Verification Results, Mandated Reporter Training, Staff Health Assessment & TB Test Results, 2 non-family reference letters, GED/High School Diploma/Relevant College Transcripts, Clearances for each state if lived out of PA within the last 5 years.
