Social Media/Marketing Coordinator
BUG-A-SALT, a growing start-up manufacturing a unique, patented insect eradication device seeks a full-time Social Media/Marketing Coordinator.
SUMMARY:
Most importantly, this role is primarily responsible for curating, creating/editing content, and writing copy for posts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn. In addition, you will be tasked with maintaining a social media calendar. Big picture, the person in this role must be capable of implementing BUG-A-SALT’s Social Media strategy - which is to provide informative posts educating folks about our brand while being funny as f@ck (just kidding – sort of). In addition, of course we also need the person in this role to stay on track to increase our online presence, while improving our sales efforts. The ideal candidate has a basic working knowledge of editing and/or photoshop software to help us create and edit content for social media posts.

Marketing team responsibilities for this role include supporting our E-Commerce platform on Shopify and creating content which can be repurposed across our email blasts and website (potentially). In addition, you will be responsible for running point on all of our in-house “fly shoots.”
The person in this position should have a broad knowledge of digital landscape and be actively engaged on all major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate wants to pursue a career in marketing & advertising (for the long term - not just a day job for you while you work on becoming a social media star/actor/whatever), has great communications skills, and puts BUG-A-SALT’s interest and brand first. You also must love contests, picking winners, and following up with packages full of love & free product (are also required) + servicing our VIP list/army of social media influencers when we release new products.
This position will report to our Marketing Brand Manager, with a dotted line to the VP, Sales & Advertising. This is a unique experience for someone who is looking to learn and grow in their role as a marketer. This role will also receive a crash course in customer service to learn the lay of the land and the essentials to keeping our customers happy. CUSTOMER SERVICE = EVERYTHING to BUG-A-SALT!

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
· Oversee daily social media management (and interns supporting you) for Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, and TikTok etc. including curating content, answering direct messages, and commenting back to fans on content posts as well as #s. The more we interact with our customers & fans in a meaningful and entertaining manner the better!
· Create funny and engaging copy which is in line with our brand voice.
· Maintain social media calendar and support Customer Service/Social Media with overall efforts/strategy.
· Facilitate relationships with other social media handles and influencers in a professional and brand-worthy manner (that is beneficial to all parties involved).
· Oversee giveaways and contents (from inception through awarding prizes to the winners).
· Provide constructive feedback to the marketing team/management about trends, posts, followers, and/or trolls (that may help our harm our brand).
· Conceptualize create in-house content for social media/YouTube using our fly farms.
· Contribute/support to E-Commerce initiatives and strategy.
· Support and organize outsourced/professional photo and video shoots for content as needed.
· Traffic materials for advertising campaigns (TV commercials) as needed.
· Provide creative assets/materials for our global distribution partners as needed.
· Keeps a cool mind during busy times and is willing to work on weekends and/or delegate weekend social media monitoring to interns (for our crazy busy summers).
· Keep abreast of the latest social media best practices and share with our team.
· Must be a good team player that puts the TEAM first. We win or lose as a team.
· Excellent critical thinking, multitasking, attention to detail, and good time-management skills (we can’t be helicoptering over you to do your work!).
· Prepare daily & weekly social reports/recaps on paid and organic metrics.
· Opportunity to work remote/travel during end of year holidays for 2 weeks. Sorry Thanksgiving = Black Friday and not a time for flexibility for this role/our brand until you have proven yourself for at least 1 year.
· Need to be able to work independently (after fully trained) & able to follow process and defined structure for this role.
· Serve as backup and support for our Mailchimp and Shopify projects and sales launches (after being trained on social media).
· Responsible 100% for the fly farm maintenance.
· And any other marketing tasks or projects as may be required by Employer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desire to grow with a company and help support a brand growing in the USA and globally.
- Excellent sense of humor and OK with the humor of our customers (see above).
- Must be able to work on weekends.
- 2 – 3 years of marketing and/or social media company/brand experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube etc.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher, OR equivalent experience.
- General understanding of the concepts of e-commerce and marketing funnels.
- Able to do basic video and photo editing. Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus, but not a requirement.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft software products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail.
- Proficient in interacting with customers to effectively maintain brand voice, and sales profile.
· Strong customer service/care skills.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with precision.
- Reliable, self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Job Type:
· Full-time + Hourly – On location.
· Must be able to commute to Santa Monica office.
