We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing complex accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the organization’s financial health.

This is a remote role open to candidates in Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, accounts payable automation, and vendor payments using financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
- Oversee accounts receivable management, ensuring timely collection and accurate recordkeeping.
- Oversee and review bookkeeper work product across an assigned portfolio of clients.
- Record payroll allocations across grants, contracts, and functional cost centers.
- Perform the first layer of review and approval on client financial statements before they are finalized and shared with management.
- Support the annual budgeting process for assigned clients, including operational and grant-funded budgets, and prepare budget-to-actual reports for management review.
- Prepare grant reports and track grants for assigned nonprofit clients.
- Contribute to process improvements by recommending automation solutions for routine accounting tasks such as invoice processing and account reconciliation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial information while ensuring accuracy in all accounting activities.
- Prepare work papers and documentation to support assigned clients' annual audits.
- Keep assigned client files audit-ready on an ongoing basis.
- Support and complete ad-hoc clean-up projects.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- 6 or more years of accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP principles and technical accounting concepts.
- 6 or more years of nonprofit accounting experience working with multiple clients.
- Comfort with ASC 958 nonprofit revenue recognition concepts, restricted versus unrestricted funds, and grant-related accounting.
- Hands-on experience with grant reporting, budget development, and payroll allocation coding for nonprofit clients.
- A demonstrated history of working independently in a low-oversight, async-first environment, not just general remote work experience.
- Ability to review and mentor bookkeeper-level work while maintaining your own full client caseload.
- Proven expertise working with multiple software platforms, including QuickBooks, Xero, Asana, Google Workspace, or similar systems.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis tools such as formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, and spreadsheets for financial analysis.
