Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, ensuring precise documentation of medical and dental histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform vital signs assessments and review medical histories to support comprehensive patient care
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and healthcare infection prevention protocols
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
- Familiarity with medical imaging technology including 3D scanners and digital radiography tools
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members like dental receptionists and hygienists while maintaining professional clinical confidentiality policies
- Knowledge of dental instrument processing to ensure proper sterilization cycles are followed for all tools used in patient care
