About the Role
The Greenhouse Operations Technician supports our production team by providing hands-on production support, maintaining greenhouse infrastructure, and improving the systems that allow our horticulture team to focus on growing exceptional plants.
This role exists to increase the productive capacity of our horticulture team by removing routine operational work that does not require horticultural judgment. As Carnivero continues to grow, this position will have increasing opportunities to lead greenhouse automation, infrastructure improvements, and operational efficiency projects.
This position reports directly to the Horticultural Team Manager.
How You'll Spend Your Time
Production Support (50%)
Help keep production moving efficiently by:
- Mixing growing media and preparing production materials
- Repotting and staging plants
- Watering plants according to established procedures
- Moving plants throughout the greenhouse
- Supporting plant finishing and acclimation
- Maintaining efficient daily workflow
Infrastructure & Automation (25%)
Help build and maintain the systems that support production.
Responsibilities include:
- Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Troubleshooting plumbing, valves, pumps, and mist systems
- Maintaining greenhouse environmental systems
- Completing facility repairs and light construction projects
- Improving greenhouse infrastructure
- Supporting irrigation automation projects
Systems Improvement (10%)
Help make Carnivero more efficient every month.
Examples include:
- Improving production workflows
- Building benches, shelving, carts, and fixtures
- Organizing production areas
- Identifying ways to reduce repetitive manual labor
- Implementing practical operational improvements
Workspace Organization (10%)
- Maintain organized greenhouse workspaces
- Keep the garage and workshop clean and orderly
- Organize tools, supplies, soils, pots, and irrigation materials
- Support basic grounds maintenance, including keeping outdoor production areas, walkways, storage areas, and work zones clean, safe, and presentable
- Remove debris, weeds, trash, and unused materials from greenhouse and nursery areas
- Support a safe and efficient work environment
Preventative Maintenance (5%)
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance
- Maintain greenhouse tools and equipment
- Help prevent equipment failures before they occur

Previous greenhouse experience is helpful, but mechanical aptitude, initiative, and a strong work ethic are more important than plant knowledge. We can teach you the plants.
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Facilities maintenance
- Commercial landscaping
- Irrigation installation
- Agriculture or farm operations
- Construction or skilled trades
- Greenhouse or nursery operations
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Basic plumbing or mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred
- Irrigation installation
- PVC plumbing
- Greenhouse experience
- Equipment maintenance
- Forklift experience
- Electrical troubleshooting
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Pay: $18.00–24.00/hour
Starting compensation is based on demonstrated experience, mechanical aptitude, irrigation knowledge, and ability to work independently.
