Pave Black Asphalt is an asphalt paving contractor serving the Fox Valley. We keep the roads, lots, and driveways in our area smooth and built to last — and we’re looking for a skilled mechanic to keep the equipment behind that work running strong.
About the Role
We need a heavy-equipment diesel mechanic who can keep our fleet job-ready and jump in the seat to run equipment when the crew needs it. When a truck, paver, or roller goes down, a whole crew waits — so you’re a key part of keeping our jobs moving.
This isn’t a big-fleet grind where you’re a number. You’d be part of a tight crew that notices good work and pays for it. Your pay grows with your skills: strong diesel, hydraulic, and electrical ability puts you toward the top of the range, and operator skills push it higher.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Service and maintain trucks, pavers, rollers, and heavy equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
- Operate equipment as needed to support the crew
- Keep the fleet safe, reliable, and job-ready
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on diesel and heavy-equipment repair experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Own basic tools
- Dependable, safety-minded, and a team player
- CDL preferred — but if you’re a strong mechanic without one, we’ll help you get it
- ASE certification a plus (we pay more for it)
Pay & Benefits
- $28–$42/hr based on experience and skills
- Overtime available
