Pipelayer - Wixom, MI
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable Pipelayer to join our underground utility construction team. This position is responsible for installing and repairing underground pipelines for water, sewer, and storm drainage systems on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have experience working in trenches, handling heavy materials, and following safety procedures in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Pay Range
- $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Install sewer, water, and storm drain piping systems
- Assist with trench preparation, pipe placement, alignment, and connection
- Read and follow construction plans, grade stakes, and project specifications
- Ensure pipes are properly aligned and installed according to project requirements
- Work safely in trenches, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment
- Follow OSHA regulations, trench safety standards, and company safety procedures
- Assist with loading, unloading, and handling construction materials and tools
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
- Experience in construction or underground utility work preferred
- Knowledge of trench safety, PPE requirements, and construction safety practices
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy materials, bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Valid driver’s license
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding work involving bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods
- Exposure to dirt, mud, noise, heavy machinery, and underground utilities
- Work performed in trenches and around active construction equipment
Schedule
- Typical schedule: Monday through Friday
- 40–50 hours per week
- Typical work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00/6:00 p.m.
- Occasional Saturdays and emergency work may be required
Background & Drug Screening Requirements
All employees are subject to pre-employment and annual screening requirements.
Non-CDL Drivers
- 10-panel rapid drug screen pre-employment
- Annual drug screening thereafter
- Additional project-specific drug screenings may be required

PTO Policy
- During the first year of employment, PTO accrues at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 72 hours
- Each year thereafter, employees receive 80 hours of PTO frontloaded at the beginning of the calendar year
