We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Debris Removal Monitor to oversee the safe and efficient removal of debris.
A Debris Monitor oversees and documents the removal of debris following disasters, ensuring contractors comply with safety regulations and FEMA or local guidelines. They track, classify, and certify loads and verify truck capacities to secure proper reimbursement. Key duties include monitoring loading, inspecting debris types, and maintaining accurate, detailed logs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure efforts while ensuring environmental and safety compliance.
Duties
- Documentation: Accurately measure, record, and log debris loads (using paper or mobile devices) to ensure compliance with FEMA and local guidelines.
- Monitoring Load Activity: Verify that contractors are properly loading and transporting materials to designated, authorized sites.
- Site Inspection: Evaluate debris to classify it (e.g., green waste, construction debris) and identify potential hazards.
- Truck Certification: Measure and document truck hauling compartments to compute volume capacity.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure safety gear is used and that only eligible, requested debris is removed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Osha 10 Construction and Health Certificate
- Valid Driver's License: Required to travel to debris pickup sites.
- Reliable Vehicle: Often needed to follow trucks, insurance required.
- Skills: Ability to work outdoors, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with digital or paper data entry.
- Experience: Entry-level, but experience in construction or emergency management is a plus.
