Don’s Dairy Supply – South Kortright, NY
Don’s Dairy Supply is a family-run agricultural equipment company serving dairy farms throughout the region. We install, maintain, and troubleshoot the systems that keep farms running — including milk cooling, vacuum systems, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration equipment.
Our work matters. When a farm calls, it’s because their operation depends on it. We’re looking for someone dependable, mechanically skilled, and willing to work hard to help keep local agriculture moving.
What This Job Is
This is a hands-on skilled trade position working directly on dairy farms.
You’ll work on a wide range of systems including:
- Electrical controls
- Vacuum systems
- Refrigeration and milk cooling
- Plumbing and water systems
- Mechanical equipment installation and repair
No two days are the same. You’ll be solving real problems and working with equipment that keeps farms operating every day.
The Kind of Person Who Succeeds Here
This job is ideal for someone who:
- Is mechanically inclined and enjoys figuring things out
- Is comfortable working with their hands
- Shows up reliably and takes pride in their work
- Doesn’t mind working in barn environments and all seasons
- Enjoys variety instead of sitting behind a desk
- Can think independently and solve problems in the field
If you like seeing the results of your work and helping real businesses stay running, you’ll find this work rewarding.
What to Expect
Our work supports dairy farms, which means:
- Work can involve barn environments, outdoor work, and physical labor
- We work year-round in all seasons
- Reliability matters — farms depend on us
- Occasional emergency service calls are part of the job
- This is a physically active job, not a desk job
The people who enjoy this role are the ones who take pride in hard work and skilled trades.
Minimum Skills & Experience
A degree in refrigeration or HVAC is welcome but not required. We are looking for someone who is confident in the basic hands-on skills needed to work independently in the field.
Applicants should be able to:
- Read and understand electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Use a multimeter to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
- Perform basic electrical work, including wiring motors, contactors, relays, switches, transformers, and controls.
- Safely braze and sweat copper tubing.
- Install, repair, and pressure-test refrigeration piping.
- Evacuate and properly charge refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose refrigeration system problems using pressure and temperature readings.
- Recover and handle refrigerants according to EPA guidelines (EPA 608 Certification preferred or ability to obtain).
- Use common hand tools, power tools, and refrigeration service tools safely.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
We are looking for someone who can confidently say "yes" to these skills before applying. While we are happy to train on our dairy-specific equipment, these fundamental refrigeration and electrical skills are expected on day one.
